In compliance with the Help America Vote Act, Utah implemented new voting equipment in 2006. The duties and responsibilities of poll workers have changed.

Due to the additional skills and responsibilities required to work with the new voting equipment, the stipend paid to poll workers has been increased. Each poll worker will receive a minimum of $120 for each election. Some positions will receive an extra stipend for transporting supplies and additional training that may be required.

Training is mandatory for each election. All poll workers will be required to attend training prior to each election. Poll managers and touch screen technicians will be required to attend additional training.
