Elections will be held for three seats on the board representing the new district east and for four seats on the board that will serve what remains of Jordan after the split.
In accordance with SB71 (second substitute) that was passed by the legislature on the last day of the session, existing local school board members do not need to run for re-election in the June special election. However, because the bill does not take affect until May 5th, they do need to file for election in accordance with the existing law. They will automatically be reappointed to a seat in the school board precinct in which they reside.
Candidates interested in running will file beginning March 7 - March 17 in the Salt Lake County Clerk's Office, Elections Division, 2100 South State Street, South Building, First Floor, Suite S1100. The office hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The filing fee is $25.00.
